CHILDREN + YOUTH

Spend time with children (babies to 3’s and/or pre-K to 5th grade) during our Sunday worship gatherings once a month.

Connect with middle and high school students volunteering during our fall connection nights and other youth events throughout the year. Regular or occasional help welcome!
APPLICATION + SCREENING
-
Step 1: Apply
This application is for anyone 11 years of age or older interested in working with children and/or minors at Wayside. Anyone under the age of 17 must have additional guardian permission to submit this application.
All applicants must provide two references (non-relatives).

Step 2: Learn
Familiarize yourself with the Wayside “Basic Safety Policy.” You will be asked to acknowledge understanding the policy and commit to follow the policy in the performance of your services on behalf of Wayside Friends Church.

Step 3: Background Check
All applicants age 14 and older are required to undergo a criminal background check.
Completed “Background Check Forms” are to be returned to office@waysidefriends.org.

Step 4: Train
Approved applicants will be required to complete approved abuse prevention training if they are 14 years of age or older.
SUNDAY GATHERED WORSHIP

The Italian Sodas Team serves Italian sodas to our community on Sunday evenings from 4:30-5:05pm. Regular or occasional help welcome!

Welcome people at the door as we gather on Sunday evenings. Greet people and pass out the worship handouts. Be available, as needed, to direct newcomers to the nursery, the restrooms, etc.

Join in music at Wayside by sharing your musical gifts up front on Sunday! Lead your own group on a monthly or quarterly rotation or lend your skills to a pre-existing group. We are in need of instrumentalists, in particular:
bass, drums, guitar, and piano. -
Join the team to run sound on Sunday evenings on a monthly rotation.

The Hospitality Team organizes and serves refreshments for church sponsored events. Your involvement can be for most events or every once in a while. All ages welcome!
SERVICE TEAMS

The meal train team facilitates providing meals for people during times of transition, grief and loss, and/ or health challenges. Sign up to participate on upcoming meal trains.

Three times a year [Fall, Christmas, Easter] we use Giving Trees as a way to support our local and global community. Join this team to help select and organize this outreach work.

Be a part of the team that discerns and approves our reach out grant applications.

Help plan, organize, and facilitate the Silent Auction for our December 6th Fundraiser.

Help plan, organize, and facilitate for our 8 Year Celebration event on December 6.

Be part of a team of people that gather once in a while to share, pray, brainstorm, and find ways to be active in living out Justice in our community and around the world.
SUPPORT

Come and offer computer support to the elders of Grand Ronde. Transportation and lunch are typically provided for free!

Newberg Coin LaundryVolunteer to make sack lunches day of and/or at the laundromat: scan payment card to start machines, pass out sack dinners, offer laundry supplies, and chat with the people.
