This week (1/10-16) we will be praying through the Prayer of St. Francis. Each day you are encouraged to, first, read through the entire prayer; then, sit with the specific lines of the prayer, meditating on the words; and finally, offer the prayer for the day.

Read through the entire prayer:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

Meditate on these lines:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is despair, let me sow hope…

Pray:

God, restore my mind and heart that I may walk in hope. Open my mind to the ways and places I can bring hope to others who are experiencing despair.
